Inspired Version (1:1)
In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lord unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,

בַּחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ (month) הַשְּׁמִינִ֔י (In the eighth) בִּשְׁנַ֥ת (year) שְׁתַּ֖יִם (of the second) לְדָרְיָ֑וֶשׁ (of Darius), הָיָ֣ה (came) דְבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֗ה (of the LORD) אֶל־ (to) זְכַרְיָה֙ (Zechariah) בֶּן־ (son) בֶּ֣רֶכְיָ֔ה (of Berechiah), בֶּן־ (the son) עִדּ֥וֹ (of Iddo), הַנָּבִ֖יא (the prophet) לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying):

Therefore, say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts.

וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ (So tell) אֲלֵהֶ֗ם ([the people]) כֹּ֤ה (that this is what) אָמַר֙ (says): יְהוָ֣ה (the LORD) צְבָא֔וֹת (of Hosts) שׁ֣וּבוּ (Return) אֵלַ֔י (to Me), נְאֻ֖ם (declares) יְהוָ֣ה (the LORD) צְבָא֑וֹת (of Hosts), וְאָשׁ֣וּב (and I will return) אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם (to you), אָמַ֖ר (says) יְהוָ֥ה (the LORD) צְבָאֽוֹת׃ (of Hosts).

Be ye not as your fathers unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Turn ye now from your evil ways and from your evil doings; but they did not hear nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord.

But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? And they returned and said, Like as the Lord of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

אַ֣ךְ׀ (But) דְּבָרַ֣י (My words) וְחֻקַּ֗י (and My statutes), אֲשֶׁ֤ר (which) צִוִּ֙יתִי֙ (I commanded) אֶת־ (-) עֲבָדַ֣י (My servants) הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים (the prophets), הֲל֥וֹא (did not) הִשִּׂ֖יגוּ (overtake) אֲבֹתֵיכֶ֑ם (your fathers)? וַיָּשׁ֣וּבוּ (They repented) וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ (and said), כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר (Just as) זָמַ֜ם (purposed) יְהוָ֤ה (the LORD) צְבָאוֹת֙ (of Hosts) לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת (to do) לָ֔נוּ (to us) כִּדְרָכֵ֙ינוּ֙ (according to our ways) וּכְמַ֣עֲלָלֵ֔ינוּ (and deeds), כֵּ֖ן (so) עָשָׂ֥ה (He has done) אִתָּֽנוּ׃ס (to us).

I saw by night, and behold, a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.

רָאִ֣יתִי׀ (I looked out) הַלַּ֗יְלָה (into the night) וְהִנֵּה־ (and saw) אִישׁ֙ (a man) רֹכֵב֙ (riding) עַל־ (on) ס֣וּס (horse). אָדֹ֔ם (a red) וְה֣וּא (He) עֹמֵ֔ד (was standing) בֵּ֥ין (among) הַהֲדַסִּ֖ים (the myrtle trees) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (-) בַּמְּצֻלָ֑ה (in the hollow), וְאַחֲרָיו֙ (and behind him) סוּסִ֣ים (horses). אֲדֻמִּ֔ים (were red), שְׂרֻקִּ֖ים (sorrel), וּלְבָנִֽים׃ (and white)

And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood among the myrtle trees and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and behold, all the earth sitteth still and is at rest.

And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

Then the angel of the Lord answered and said, O Lord of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?

So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts: I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

Therefore, thus saith the Lord: I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies; my house shall be built in it, saith the Lord of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah so that no man did lift up his head; but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.

Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof and what is the length thereof.

Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

And said unto him, Run; speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein;

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (and said) אֵלָ֔ו (to him), רֻ֗ץ (Run) דַּבֵּ֛ר (and tell) אֶל־ (. . .) הַנַּ֥עַר (young man): הַלָּ֖ז (that) לֵאמֹ֑ר (. . .) פְּרָזוֹת֙ (without walls) תֵּשֵׁ֣ב (will be a city) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם (Jerusalem) מֵרֹ֥ב (because of the multitude) אָדָ֛ם (of men) וּבְהֵמָ֖ה (and livestock) בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃ (within it).

And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:

For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about and will be the glory in the midst of her.

וַאֲנִ֤י (For I) אֶֽהְיֶה־ (will be) לָּהּ֙ () נְאֻם־ (declares) יְהוָ֔ה (the LORD), ח֥וֹמַת (a wall) אֵ֖שׁ (of fire) סָבִ֑יב (around it), וּלְכָב֖וֹד (the glory) אֶֽהְיֶ֥ה (and I will be) בְתוֹכָֽהּ׃פ (within it).

For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

Ho, ho! Come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the Lord; for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the Lord.

These are the things that ye shall do: Speak ye, every man, the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates.
